Who we are..

Fox Lane is run by Don and Pip McLean and their four children.

We plant the new trees as a family every year. The kids help out with thistle chipping and trimming the trees to bush them up to create a great Christmas Tree shape. Our older two now help with cutting them down with chainsaws.

Our first trees were planted in 2018 and take 3 & 1/2 years to grow with about 6 trims during that time.
In 2023 Cyclone Gabrielle drowned 900 trees and blew a few hundred over. Other storms have blown others over since, so we now have a large supply of waratahs to stand them up so they grow nice and straight for you.

We love living here in Muriwai and raising our kids in this amazing community.

The name Fox Lane comes from our two surnames -
Pip Foxley and Don McLean - and it is also next to Foxley Road

CARING FOR YOUR TREE
Thanks for buying one of our trees.

When you get home, put your tree in water. Cut the base off by a few centimetres if it's been longer than an hour after cutting it down.
Stand it in a Christmas tree stand or a bucket with bricks (make sure it's secure)
Do not add soil or sand to the tree stand or bucket.

Keep it topped up with water. A tree can drink a few litres of water a day for a few days. Add a bit of bleach if you want to.
They don't love being in the direct sunlight and each tree will have a better side to look at.
Your tree can stay green for up to 6 weeks if it's got water and doesn't get too hot.
